Afridi starts his career in domestic cricket, played domestic cricket in Karachi, and joined the team as a leg spin bowler. Just after one year of Domestic cricket, he starts his international career at that time when the four-nation cup tournament was in progress. Shahid Afridi wasn’t part of this tournament but when the spin bowling legend Mushtaq Ahmed who was part of this tournament got injured so in place of him Shahid Afridi was called as an alternative Mushtaq Ahmed for the tournament. Afridi played his first international game against Kenya and in his first match, he could not perform well. In the next match against Sri Lanka Afridi was sent to play at the number 3 position for batting. When Afridi came onto the ground and starts playing he play short all around the ground and made a record as 100 runs just in 37 balls, this was the record inning in an international career. After this match, Shahid Afridi’s name was highlighted and he won the hearts of the cricket lovers and officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board. Just after two years of his international career, Afridi got a chance to play a test match, he played his first test match against Australia on 22 October 1998. In this test match, Afridi opened the inning but could not play well and got out soon but Afridi’s bowling performance was no doubt excellent as he took 5 wickets in his first inning.
